Photoshop is the digital equivalent of the darkroom and an essential part of the process of image making. This course is taught with step-by-step instructions using a real-world briefing that introduces all key editing techniques. This course is designed for beginners and for those who are already familiar with the basics and who will benefit by the detailed exploration of each module, including non-destructive editing, adjustment layers and image compositing techniques.

Online Beginners Photography Course.

Two days = 12 hours £250

Welcome to the amazing world of photography! The focus of this Beginners Photography Course is concentrated on the technical understanding of your digital camera, unleashing your creativity by learning exactly how the settings work. We will divide the course content into bite size sections that you can practise at home. Your teacher will then provide feedback and suggest ways to improve your photography further.

  • Fundamentals of photography
  • Camera resolution
  • File formats (JPG, RAW)
  • Lenses (focal lengths, macro, prime & zoom)
  • Manual vs auto-focus (focusing points, autofocus lock, single & continuous focus)
  • Principles of exposure (exposure triangle & use of grey card)
  • Manual exposure (ISO, shutter speeds, aperture)
  • Metering modes (evaluative, partial, spot)

 

Online Intermediate Photography Course.

Two days = 12 hours £250

Our Complete Foundation Photography Course is divided into two parts: this is the second part. Immersing yourself in the discussion around the concepts and principles of design, composition, and perception, the focus of this course are the creative aspects of photography. You will learn ‘what makes a good image’ by hands on and project-led assignments telling your stories through your images.

You will cover

  • Principles of composition (balance, rule of thirds, negative space, frame within a frame)
  • Use of contrast in your photographs (colour, patterns, light)
  • Choosing the right lenses
  • Use of Shallow Depth of Field
  • Crucial vs distracting image elements
  • Developing your own stories by conveying a message
  • Optimising your images in Postproduction 

 

Online Portfolio Printing Course

Two days = 12 hours £250

Taking your portfolio from digital to print is an essential skill of design including how to get a flow of your work in a book, (this is different to a website and gallery).

It teaches you an understanding of colour management and calibration from computer screen to printer as well as the different layout options.

We also discuss how the use of a specific paper can change a look and feel of a project.

Your teacher will spend a lot of one-to-one time with each student to select the best images and help them structure the portfolio.

You will finish this course with your own professional portfolio

To do the course, you’ll need to bring a selection of around 100 final, retouched images from which we will make the final selection.

 

 

Online Complete Foundation Course

Four days = 24 hours £450

 

The full Foundation Course combines both the two day Beginners and two day Intermediate Course. This is a 4 day journey that will provide you with the tools to master the technical as well as the design elements of photography. During the course we will use a mixture of presentations and hands-on assignments that you can fulfil at home, moving in small understandable bite sizes to reach your goal of creating a great series of edited images.

  • Depth of Field
  • Shutter Speed (Freezing and Blurring Motion & Panning)
  • You will cover – Intermediate level

Requirements

You will not need any special photographic equipment for this course. A DSLR or Mirrorless System Camera is preferable, but a compact camera or even a camera phone could be used to complete the assignments. A tripod would be useful, but not essential, as well as a selection of prime or zoom lenses ranging from wide angle out to telephoto zoom.
